Эммануэл Эменике объявил в Instagram о решении прекратить выступления за сборную Нигерии. Победитель Кубка Африки-2013 и лучший бомбардир того турнира сыграл в составе "СуперОрлов" 37 раз и забил 9 голов. В этом сезоне экс-спартаковец, принадлежащий турецкому "Фенербахче", находится в аренде у клуба "Аль-Аин" из Абу-Даби.
"Ухожу ради национального спокойствия", – написал критикуемый в последнее время в своей стране Эменике, дав повод для разговоров, что он не нашел общего языка с новым главным тренером сборной Сандеем Олисе, как и вратарь Винсент Эньеама, объявивший о прекращении международной карьеры двумя неделями ранее.
– Горжусь своими выступлениями за сборную, – подчеркнул Эменике. – Моя золотая медаль с Кубка Африки – знак большого достижения, а звание лучшего бомбардира многое говорит о моей приверженности национальной команде. Мои мечты в ней сбылись. Мечтал завоевать для Нигерии Кубок Африки после 20-летнего перерыва, сыграть на чемпионате мира и сделать себе имя. В течение пяти лет это удалось. Я – победитель!
